Wilmington sits in the Yorke and Mid North region of South Australia, about 305 km north of Adelaide, within the District Council of Mount Remarkable. Originally called “Beautiful Valley”, it remains a farming hub for sheep, wheat and barley, while recent climate trends have encouraged olive groves. The town borders Mount Remarkable National Park, with Alligator Gorge a ten‑minute drive away, and serves as a base for the Flinders Ranges, including Wilpena Pound.
