Beechford is a tiny rural locality in the George Town LGA of Tasmania, perched where Curries River meets Bass Strait. The 2016 census counted just 90 residents, many enjoying a quiet beach‑side lifestyle amid farmland, Crown land and a defence training area. The white‑sand shore supports walking, mountain biking, snorkeling, kite‑surfing and fishing, with generally calm, warm waters. As part of the Five Mile Bluff conservation zone, vehicle access on the beach is restricted, helping preserve its unspoiled views.
The village lies about 22 km north‑east of George Town and 48 km north of Launceston, with road access via the Georgetown‑to‑Bridport route through Lefroy, Dalrymple Road (C809) from the East Tamar Highway, or Bullocks Head Road off the A8. Route C807 (Beechford Road) enters from the south‑east and terminates in the settlement. While Beechford has no retail outlet of its own, the nearest shops are in George Town, providing amenities for residents.
