Camena, TAS 7316
Overview
Camena is a rural locality in the Central Coast LGA of Tasmania’s North West region, lying about 21 kilometres south‑east of Burnie. At the 2021 census the community recorded just 24 residents, giving the area a quiet atmosphere. The Blythe River defines its western boundary, adding a natural fringe to the landscape. Its name, an Aboriginal word meaning “chin”, was adopted when the locality was gazetted in 1966, having previously been known as South Road.
Road access is provided by the C116 (Camena Road), which enters from the north and exits west, and by the C192 (Scotts Road) that branches off near the western edge and runs southeast before turning south. These routes link the settlement to nearby centres and make commuting to Burnie straightforward. Housing in Camena consists of scattered rural dwellings, reflecting the small population and surroundings. The nearby Adam Creek adds to the locality’s natural setting.
Region type mix: Regional 100%.
