Nestled on the western shore of Port Esperance, Dover is the southernmost town of its size in Australia. At the 2021 Census the community numbered 923 people, with 288 under 40 years and 118 identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. A strong agricultural base shapes local work – 54 % of the 197 employed residents are in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing, complemented by construction, retail, health‑care, public administration and professional services. The town enjoys a cool marine climate, with sunny summers and occasional beach‑level snow in winter.
