Overview

Granton is a rural residential locality split between the Derwent Valley (80 %) and Glenorchy (20 %) councils, lying about 9 kilometres north of Glenorchy and forming part of the Hobart metropolitan area. The 2016 census recorded 1 736 residents, enjoying a lifestyle framed by the River Derwent to the north and the surrounding hills – Mount Nassau, Snake Mount, Limestone Hill and Rose Hills – which provide natural backdrop for outdoor pursuits.
