Nestled 4 km north‑west of New Norfolk, Lawitta is a quiet rural locality within the Derwent Valley council area. The Derwent River frames its south‑western edge, while the historic Derwent Valley Railway line traces the same boundary, underscoring the area’s natural and transport heritage. Route A10 (Lyell Highway) cuts through the suburb from south‑east to south‑west, linking residents to the broader South‑east Tasmanian region.
