Legana is a rural‑residential locality in West Tamar, about 12 km north of Launceston and 32 km south‑east of Beaconsfield. The 2021 Census recorded 4,769 residents living in a mix of former dairy farms, apple orchards and newer subdivisions along the West Tamar Highway, with many homes near the Tamar River where fresh water meets the estuary.
