Overview

Murdunna is a quiet rural locality perched at the head of King George Sound on the Forestier Peninsula, about 36 km north‑east of Nubeena and roughly six metres above sea level. Bordered by the Tasman Sea to the east and Norfolk Bay to the west, the town enjoys a coastal setting that swells with visitors in summer as Hobart‑based weekenders seek a seaside retreat. Many properties are holiday homes owned by non‑residents, while tourism and a continuing forestry sector provide the main sources of income. Recreation centres on nearby Sommers Bay, located five kilometres to the west.
