Parattah is a quiet Tasmanian township just 6 km southeast of Oatlands, with 147 residents recorded at the 2021 census. Around 100 families live among a blend of historic homes, many dating to the town’s heyday and presently being restored, alongside a farmhouse once owned by Qantas founder Hudson Fysh. The main street offers the original general store, the Tudor‑style Parattah Hotel and several heritage churches, giving the village a distinct, relaxed character.

Transport links centre on the historic railway station, which historically served both Parattah and Oatlands, and a modest public telephone that was reinstated after community protest in 2009. The close proximity of Austral Park Dam and Ceres Dam (just over a kilometre away) adds natural recreation options to the lifestyle mix.
