Overview

Risdon sits on Hobart’s western fringe, directly west of Risdon Vale, and carries the legacy of early Tasmanian exploration. The suburb’s streets are lined with heritage landmarks such as the 1820s Cleburne Homestead beside the Bowen Bridge, the sandstone Saracen’s Head Inn (c. 1828), the 1858 Risdon Brook Bridge and the 1867 St Margaret’s Church. Main access runs along East Derwent Highway, linking residents to the city and the Derwent waterfront.
