Riverside, TAS 7250
Overview
Riverside sits just five kilometres north‑west of Launceston’s CBD, offering a family‑orientated lifestyle. A shopping centre from the 1960s provides a Woolworths, bakery, pharmacist and other local retailers, while a nearby complex adds Joes IGA, a restaurant, pub, bottle shop and a Best Western motel. The suburb hosts four schools and the Windsor Park sports precinct, home to football, soccer and cricket. The 2016 census recorded 6,472 residents, the largest population of any Launceston suburb.
Transport revolves around the West Tamar Highway (A7), which cuts through Riverside linking it to Beaconsfield, Beauty Point and the wider region, with Ecclestone Road feeding the newer north‑west districts. Housing ranges from historic brick and weatherboard Edwardian and Art Deco homes near the highway to modern subdivisions in West Riverside and North Riverside, while Cormiston House adds a mid‑1800s landmark.
Region type mix: Regional 99%, Metro 1%.
