Overview

Triabunna is a rural residential locality in the Glamorgan‑Spring Bay council area, about 86 km north‑east of Hobart. The 2021 Census recorded 905 residents, making it the second‑largest township on Tasmania’s east coast. The Tasman Highway (A3) runs straight through the town, with Route C319 branching south to Freestone Point, providing easy road links to nearby Orford (6 km) and the rest of the region. Housing includes a core of permanent homes alongside the nearby resort community of Louisville, giving a blend of year‑round residences and holiday properties.

The town enjoys a mild oceanic climate, warm sunny summers and cool winters, ideal for beach‑side living and watersports such as fishing, sailing, surfing and diving. Scenic views of Maria Island are reachable by a short ferry ride, and the foreshore hosts the Tasmanian Seafarers Memorial. Triabunna also offers excellent sporting facilities for tennis, cricket, golf and Australian rules football, and its surrounding eucalyptus forests provide popular bushwalking trails.
