Tunbridge is a modest rural locality split between the Northern Midlands and Southern Midlands councils in Tasmania’s Central region. Situated about 24 km north of Oatlands, it recorded 145 residents in the 2016 census and retains the historic charm of its coaching‑stop origins, once home to three inns that served Hobart‑Launceston travelers.
The Midland Highway (National Route 1) runs straight through the centre of Tunbridge, providing easy north‑south access, while Route C526 links the settlement westward. The Blackman River winds across the landscape via the Blackman Dam, adding a natural backdrop to everyday life. Housing is dispersed across the countryside, offering the space and quiet typical of a small Tasmanian community.
