Upper Burnie is a residential locality in the Burnie LGA, perched on the hill above the city and about 3 km south of the town centre. It was gazetted in 1966, giving it a defined identity in north‑west Tasmania. Route B18 (Mount Street) runs through, providing a north‑west to south‑east corridor into Burnie and surrounding areas. The elevated position offers easy access to the wider region while retaining a distinct community feel.
