Broadmeadows lies 15 km north of Melbourne’s CBD and acts as a sub‑regional centre for the northern suburbs. At the 2021 census it had 12,524 residents, a multicultural community served by schools such as Broadmeadows Primary, Penola Catholic College and Kangan Institute, plus a shopping centre, Hoyts cinema and the Seabrook Reserve Rugby League Centre. It also hosted the road‑cycling event at the 1956 Summer Olympics.
