Cape Schanck is a seaside locality at the southern tip of the Mornington Peninsula, about 72 km south of Melbourne’s CBD in the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. It recorded a population of 569 in the 2021 census. The cape separates the open waters of Bass Strait from the calmer Western Port and is noted for the 1859 lighthouse and the striking Pulpit Rock. Coastal cliffs attract albatrosses, shearwaters and other seabirds, giving residents a natural wildlife backdrop.
