Croydon railway station on the Lilydale line is a short walk from the property, though it is currently closed for level‑crossing removal works. Several Ventura Bus Lines routes (e.g., 664, 668, 670) also serve the nearby bus‑rail interchange, providing links to surrounding suburbs.

Main Street, a short walk away, hosts over 180 retailers including cafes, eateries and specialty shops. Larger centres such as Croydon Central on Kent and Wicklow Avenue and the Arndale Shopping Centre on Mt Dandenong Road offer a wide range of food, retail and services.

Several green spaces are nearby, including Warrien Reserve (≈0.8 km), Brushy Creek Park (≈0.9 km), Hughes Park (≈0.9 km), Barngeong Reserve (≈1.0 km) and Silcock Reserve (≈1.5 km). These parks provide walking trails, open lawns and playground facilities.

Croydon was first settled in the 1840s for grazing and sawmilling, later becoming known as "White Flats" before being renamed by the Lacey family. The settlement grew with orchards, a railway station opened in 1882 (renamed Croydon in 1884), and it was proclaimed a town in 1912 before becoming part of the City of Maroondah in 1994.

Croydon falls under the City of Maroondah, which is divided into the Wyreena, Arrabri and Mullum wards, each with three councillors. It is part of the Croydon and Warrandyte state electoral districts and sits across the federal divisions of Casey and Deakin.
