Overview

Nestled at the foot of the 380‑metre Mount Elephant, Derrinallum sits on the Hamilton Highway within the Corangamite Shire, offering easy road links to neighbouring towns. The town grew around a farming community and retains a distinctive post‑war architectural character after much of the original settlement was rebuilt following the 1944 bushfire. Though the railway arrived in 1913, today the highway remains the primary transport corridor for residents and visitors alike.
