Greendale, VIC 3341

Overview

Greendale is a small town in central Victoria, located 81 kilometres west‑north‑west of Melbourne within the Shire of Moorabool. With a modest community of 602 residents recorded at the 2016 census, the town offers a relaxed rural lifestyle framed by the surrounding native flora and fauna that early settlers noted, including kangaroos, bandicoots, dingoes and quolls. Its historic charm is highlighted by the Greendale Post Office, which has served the community since 1 January 1867, and by being the birthplace of former Victorian Premier John Cain in 1882.
