Meadow Heights lies 18 km north of Melbourne’s CBD in the City of Hume and recorded 14,890 residents in the 2021 census. Developed mainly in the 1980s–1990s, the suburb contains roughly 3,000 housing blocks with limited new builds since 2000, creating an established mix of homes. The Meadow Heights Shopping Centre on Paringa Boulevard hosts a SUPA IGA, over 25 specialty stores, a mosque, a Catholic church, a community centre and several milk bars. Two primary schools, Meadow Heights Primary and Bethal Primary, serve local families.

Six bus routes, including the 541 and 542, run through Meadow Heights and link to the Craigieburn line stations at Coolaroo and Roxburgh Park nearby. Pascoe Vale, Barry and Somerton Roads provide easy car access, while the extensive park network, Broadmeadows Valley Park with bike trails and Shankland Wetlands, offers recreation for residents.
