Overview

Rosebud is a seaside suburb on the Mornington Peninsula, 61 km south of Melbourne’s CBD, with 14,381 residents recorded in the 2021 Census. Its sandy beach, shallow waters and one of the peninsula’s largest foreshore camping areas make it a favoured holiday spot, while the rebuilt pier, weekly craft and vintage markets and a community parkrun add a vibrant coastal lifestyle. The town’s retail strip runs along the Nepean Highway opposite the beach, complemented by a shopping centre, public library and easy access to extensive cycling trails, golf courses and sporting clubs.

The suburb offers a full suite of services: Rosebud Primary, Eastbourne Primary, Our Lady of Fatima Catholic School and Rosebud Secondary College serve families; Rosebud Hospital and a modern ambulance station provide health care, while police and fire stations sit on Boneo Road. New housing estates such as Peninsula Sands and low‑rise apartments at Jetty and Nepean Roads create a mix of historic homes, sea‑change retiree properties and family‑friendly developments, supporting both permanent residents and the seasonal influx of visitors.
