Overview
Skenes Creek North is a quiet locality in the Shire of Colac Otway, Victoria. The 2016 census recorded just 16 residents, offering a sparsely populated, country lifestyle with ample land for rural homes. A telegraph and post office opened as “Biddles” around June 1920, was renamed Skene’s Creek North in 1938, and closed in January 1960, marking a modest historic hub.
The settlement lies less than a kilometre from the former Apollo Bay (Tanybryn Farm) weather station and is flanked by the Tanybryn trigonometrical station and Gentle Annie Hill, both within two kilometres. These nearby natural features provide easy outdoor access, and local roads connect the area to surrounding sites, making Skenes Creek North a tranquil retreat with a simple mix of rural dwellings.
