Upper Ferntree Gully lies 32 km east of Melbourne’s CBD, within the City of Knox and the Shire of Yarra Ranges. At the 2021 census it had 3,417 residents with easy access to the Dandenong Ranges National Park, including Ferntree Gully Park and its famed “1,000 steps” Kokoda Trail memorial. Parks such as Kings Park, Talaskia Reserve and Gilmour Park host football, cricket, athletics and archery, while groups like the Country Fire Authority and Talaskia Scouts add a village feel.
