Overview

Werrimull is a small rural township in Mildura, Victoria, about 79 km west‑southwest of Mildura and 13 km south of the Sturt Highway opposite Lake Cullulleraine. The 2016 census recorded 112 residents. Grain cropping – wheat, barley and oats – and a strong sheep and cattle sector dominate the economy, while the local Australian rules football club won a Millewa League premiership in 2013. The Werrimull P‑12 School serves families across the Millewa, and the town provides a stop‑over for visitors to the Millewa Pioneer Forest.

Housing reflects the original Soldier Settlement pattern of roughly one‑square‑mile farms. Road links place Werrimull 10 km east of Karawinna and 10 km west of Bambill, and the town lies within 4 km of a post office, fire station, police station and weather station. Although the railway opened in 1924 and closed in 1989, the proximity to the Sturt Highway ensures essential transport connections for the close‑knit agrarian community.
