Overview

Woodvale is a small locality in the City of Greater Bendigo, Victoria, with a population of 556 recorded in the 2021 census. The area was originally inhabited by the Dja Dja Wurrung people, who called it “Nerring,” and later underwent several name changes, from Myers Creek in 1845, to Sydney Flat after gold was discovered in 1852, before adopting the name Woodvale in the 1920s.
