The town’s roots stretch back to 1837 when the Ryrie brothers established the Yering run and planted the first grape vines in the Yarra Valley, a legacy still celebrated by the historic, National‑Trust‑listed Yarra Glen Grand Hotel (1888) that dominates the main street.
