Overview

Capel sits 212 km south of Perth in Western Australia’s South West, midway between Bunbury and Busselton and set on the Capel River at about 19 m elevation. The town has a Mediterranean climate with warm, dry summers (13‑40 °C) and cool, wet winters, supporting traditional dairy and beef farms as well as newer hobby farms that raise alpacas, vineyards and blue gums. As of the 2016 census the Town of Capel had 2,509 residents, reflecting a modest, close‑knit community.
