Carramar, 30 km north of Perth’s CBD, is bounded by Flynn Drive, Pinjar Road, Joondalup Drive and Wanneroo Road. The suburb’s name, an Aboriginal word for “shade of trees”, is reflected in its leafy sports oval on Millendon Street, the council‑run community centre opened in 2006, and the Bob Stanton‑designed 18‑hole golf course set within native bushland. Shopping needs are met by Carramar Village Shopping Centre, operating since 2009, while families enjoy Carramar Primary School (opened 2005) and nearby Joseph Banks Secondary College, with the Carramar Cougars football club based at Houghton Park.
