Miling, WA 6575
Overview
Miling is a tiny town in the Shire of Moora, situated about 200 km north of Perth in Western Australia. At the 2021 census the community numbered just 101 residents, giving it a close‑knit, rural character. The surrounding landscape is dominated by wheat and other cereal crops, anchoring the local lifestyle in grain farming.
The town serves as the terminus of the historic Clackline–Miling railway branch line, part of Western Australia’s “wheatbins” network that links grain producers to markets. In 1932 the Wheat Pool installed two engine‑equipped grain elevators at the railway siding, and today Miling functions as a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling. These transport and storage facilities underpin the town’s agricultural economy and provide essential services for residents.
