Overview

Pemberton is a town in Western Australia’s South West, named after early settler Pemberton Walcott. Today it thrives as a tourist hub surrounded by karri forest, with five national parks within a 20‑minute drive, climbable giants such as the Gloucester and Dave Evans Bicentennial trees, the Yeagarup Dunes, Beedelup Falls and a growing cool‑climate wine region celebrated at the three‑day Southern Forests Festival each May. The Mediterranean climate brings warm, dry summers and cool, rainy winters, encouraging activities from hiking the Bibbulmun Track to river cruises and 4WD tours. Log sawmilling remains a key employer, now using plantation Tasmanian blue gum and pine alongside karri, while vineyards have expanded across former pastures.
