South Yunderup, WA 6208
Overview
South Yunderup is a riverside township on the south bank of the Murray River in the Shire of Murray, 6208. At the 2011 Census it recorded 2,235 residents with a median age of 50, making it the shire’s second‑largest community after Pinjarra. Built around a network of canals at the river’s mouth, the suburb’s tranquil setting and limited road access – a single link to Mandurah and Pinjarra – have attracted many retirees. At the same time, large new subdivisions such as the Austin Cove development by Satterley are expanding the housing mix beyond the original canal homes.
Residents enjoy a strong community hub at Yunderup Sports Club on Delta Drive, which hosts around 500 members for tennis, bowls, darts and social events. Public transport is provided by Bus 604, running from the South Yunderup Boat Ramp to Mandurah Station via South Yunderup Road and Inlet Boulevard. Proximity to the Murray River, Lucie Hunter Park and the nearby Austin Cove Baptist College adds natural and educational amenities to the lifestyle.
