Tapping, WA 6065
Overview
Tapping, a suburb of Perth within the City of Wanneroo, emerged in the early 1990s from the former Carramar estate and was officially named in 1997 to honour the pioneering Tapping family. Bounded by Joondalup Drive, Pinjar Road, Conti Road and Wanneroo Road, the area has transformed from farmland into a rapidly developing residential enclave, housing 8,946 people according to the 2011 census, with a youthful median age of 30 and modest weekly incomes.
Families benefit from a strong education network, including the private St Stephen’s School (Carramar Campus) and two public primary schools, Tapping Primary (opened 2007) and Spring Hill Primary (opened 2011). A string of nearby green spaces such as Pat Scarfo Park, Badolato Park and Jimbub Swamp Park provide ample recreation. Public transport is serviced by bus routes 390, 467 and 468, linking residents to Whitfords and Joondarup railway stations and the wider Yanchep line. The suburb’s housing mix reflects its recent growth, offering modern homes within a well‑connected, amenity‑rich community.
