Walpole sits on the northern edge of the 100‑ha Walpole Inlet, about 430 km south‑southeast of Perth and 66 km west of Denmark. The town’s name derives from the inlet, which honours the Walpole River discovered in 1831. Surrounded by old‑growth tingle and karri forests, Walpole provides immediate access to the Walpole‑Nornalup National Park and the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk, while the Bibbulmun Track threads through the settlement, offering extensive walking and nature‑based recreation.
