Overview
Collector is a small village on the Federal Highway, positioned halfway between Goulburn and the Australian Capital Territory and just seven kilometres north of Lake George. The 2021 census recorded 376 residents in the village and its surrounds. A 1988 highway upgrade added a bridge across the Collector Creek floodplain, providing all‑weather access to Canberra while the historic Bushranger Hotel remains a heritage‑listed landmark on Church Street.
The village offers a relaxed, country lifestyle supported by several nearby wineries, including Lerida Estate, Lake George Winery and Collector Wines, plus the annual Collector Village Pumpkin Festival with market stalls, live music and vintage displays. A small public primary school serves local families, and the proximity to Goulburn and Canberra has made Collector increasingly popular as a commuter community, blending a village atmosphere with convenient transport links.
Region type mix: Regional 100%.
