Overview
Quaama is a village in the Bega Valley Shire of New South Wales’ South Coast. Situated on the Princes Highway between Cobargo and Brogo, it lies about 30 km north of Bega, providing easy road access to surrounding towns. The centre of the village features a general store that also houses the post office, and a volunteer bushfire brigade that protects the community.
Residents enjoy a strong sense of community anchored by historic buildings: the Quaama Public School (established 1877), the School of Arts (1902) and the Anglican church, which celebrated its centenary in 2007. A modest housing stock, including homes that survived the severe December 2019 bushfires, offers a mix of traditional and newer dwellings. The village is also proud of its connection to Australian netball star Susan Pratley, reflecting a vibrant local lifestyle.
Region type mix: Regional 100%.
