Malak is a northern suburb of Darwin in the Northern Territory, named after an Aboriginal tribe from the Daly River area. The suburb’s layout was largely shaped in the 1970s and 1980s, with construction still underway when Cyclone Tracy struck Darwin in 1974. Historically the area had a high proportion of social‑housing dwellings, but the share fell to 11.2 % in the 2011 census from 28.8 % in 1991, indicating a shifting housing mix.

Today Malak offers a family‑friendly lifestyle with extensive parklands such as Malak Park and nearby Rosella Park.
