Tamborine Mountain enjoys a subtropical highland climate with mild temperatures – around 17 °C in winter and 25 °C in summer – and about 1,550 mm of annual rainfall, mainly between December and March.

The plateau does not have a reticulated water supply or sewerage system; residents rely on rainwater tanks, bore water and septic systems for their water and wastewater needs.

The region is part of an Important Bird Area that supports species such as Albert's lyrebirds, pale‑yellow robins, green catbirds, and glossy black cockatoos, as well as other animals like platypus, short‑beaked echidnas and Richmond birdwings.

The plateau covers roughly 28 km² (about 11 sq mi), measuring approximately 8 km by 4 km.

A network of four main roads links the mountain to surrounding lowland localities, providing alternative routes for access during floods or maintenance works.

Within about 1.6 km you’ll find the MT Tamborine ALERT weather station, radio stations 90.9 Sea FM, Hot Tomato and Jazz Radio 94.1FM, and the town of Mount Tamborine is just 2.3 km away.
