Tanah Merah is a residential suburb of Logan, officially named in 1971 and home to 4,754 residents according to the 2021 Census. The community has a median age of 37, just a year below the national median, and its population grew sharply after a new housing estate was built west of Drews Road between 2001 and 2006, giving the area a mix of established homes and newer developments.

Everyday convenience centres around the Tanah Merah Shopping Plaza on Sambit Street, while several small parks – Hanlon Street, Tahan Crescent and Tansey – provide green space and a council‑managed boat ramp on the Logan River. Residents enjoy easy access to the nearby Logan Hyperdome shopping mall, Event Cinemas, the Hyperdome Library and Logan Hospital, all within 2 km.
