Tanawha is a rural locality nestled in the Sunshine Coast hinterland and forms part of the Buderim urban centre. At the 2021 census the suburb recorded 1,312 residents. The Bruce Highway cuts through Tanawha from south‑east to north‑west, while the Sunshine Motorway defines part of its eastern edge, giving residents quick road access to the wider Sunshine Coast region.

The area blends open‑space living with residential properties, offering families nearby amenities such as Calvary Christian Church and the Tanawha Tourist Drive. Popular attractions include Amaze World’s hedge maze, puzzle games and mini‑golf, as well as the Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Garden showcasing native flora. Although Tanawha has no schools, primary and secondary options are a short drive away in Sippy Downs, Buderim and surrounding suburbs.
