Underwood lies 18 km south‑east of central Brisbane, bounded by the Logan Motorway and Compton Road, and is home to 6,809 residents according to the 2021 Census. The community is youthful – the median age is 34, four years below the national median – and culturally diverse, with just over half of residents born in Australia and significant populations from India, China, Korea and New Zealand, many speaking Mandarin, Punjabi or Korean at home.
