Woolooga is a quiet rural town in the Gympie Region of Queensland, situated 221 km north of Brisbane. At the 2021 census the locality recorded 310 residents, giving it a close‑knit community feel surrounded by farmland and the meandering Wide Bay Creek. Heritage is evident in the historic Woolooga Rail Bridge and the town’s name, derived from the Kabi language meaning “smoke‑ground”.

Local amenities include Woolooga State School, a small government primary school that enrolled 14 students in 2018, and the Woolooga Memorial Park, which honours Australian service personnel. Although the former Theebine‑Kilkivan railway line and its stations are now abandoned, road links such as Bauple Woolooga Road provide access to nearby Kilkivan and Gympie, where the nearest secondary schools are located.
