According to the 2021 census, Yarrabilba had a population of 10,240 people.
As of March 2024, Yarrabilba consists of ten neighbourhoods: The Avenues, Birnam Views, Mallee Pocket, Oak Leaf, The Parks, The Retreat, Sandstone Ridge, Sunrise Crossing, Vista, and Wickham Rise.
The area was originally occupied by the Wangerriburra Clan and contains two bora rings used for ceremonial singing. It also hosted the World War II military training base Camp Cable and was served by the Beaudesert railway line from 1915 to 1955.
Yarrabilba was incorporated into Logan City following local government amalgamations in March 2008.
In 2010, it was announced that Yarrabilba would become a new urban centre expected to contain 20,000 dwellings and house up to 50,000 residents.
