Overview
Craigburn Farm lies 17 km south of Adelaide’s centre, becoming a residential enclave after the former Minda Inc farm was sold in 1995. The suburb is characterised by large detached family homes, many grouped within the Blackwood Park estate’s three tree‑lined nodes, the newest bordering the Sturt River and Sturt Gorge Recreation Park. In the 2016 Census the population was 2,394, with a high proportion of university‑educated residents and household incomes nearly double the state average.
Residents enjoy easy public‑transport links via a local bus service and the nearby Coromandel railway station on the Belair line. Families have access to St Peter’s Lutheran Primary School within the suburb, while secondary education is provided by Blackwood High School and several private schools that operate bus routes. The adjoining Sturt Gorge Recreation Park offers walking and riding trails, waterfalls and native wildlife such as kangaroos, koalas and echidnas, adding a natural backdrop to life.
