Penrice is a small town set in the heart of South Australia’s Barossa Valley, just north of Angaston. Its tranquil, rural atmosphere is complemented by a nearby weather‑monitoring station located only 1.8 km away, providing locals with reliable climate information. The community is dominated by a large limestone and marble quarry that operated under Penrice Soda Products until the company’s failure and was purchased by Adelaide Brighton Cement in July 2014. The quarry once drove the Barossa Valley railway line via the Penrice Stone Train, but the line has not been used since the Adelaide Brighton acquisition, leaving road travel as the primary transport link for residents and workers alike.
