Overview

Port Germein sits on Spencer Gulf’s eastern shore, about 219 km north of Adelaide and 19 km north of Port Pirie. The town’s relaxed seaside lifestyle centers on the historic jetty, once the longest wooden jetty in the Southern Hemisphere and now the longest in South Australia at 1 532 m, offering a scenic promenade. A lighthouse erected in 1894 at the jetty’s end adds a distinctive heritage touch.

The Augusta Highway and the Adelaide‑Port Augusta railway line run along the east side of the town, providing excellent road and rail links. A goods siding, commissioned in 2015 and operated by SCT Logistics, and an 1 800 m passing loop support freight, while the highway gives easy access to Port Pirie and other regional hubs.
