Overview
Roseworthy is a small town about 10 km north of Gawler on the Horrocks Highway. At the 2016 census it had 994 residents. The town includes a large grain storage complex of silos and bunkers and the Roseworthy campus of the University of Adelaide, home to Australia’s newest Vet School with Animal Science, Veterinary Bioscience and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine programmes. Nearby is the independent primary school Trinity College Roseworthy.
The Horrocks Highway brings a steady flow of travellers, and the Roseworthy Roadhouse is a popular rest stop for truck drivers. Grain from the silos is now taken by road to Port Adelaide for export, a change from the historic railway lines that once linked Roseworthy to Gawler, Morgan and Peterborough. Roseworthy lies within the Light Regional Council and the state electoral district of Schubert, connecting it to regional services.
