Overview
Sellicks Beach sits on the southern fringe of Adelaide, about 47 kilometres from the city centre, within the City of Onkaparinga. The coastal suburb, known traditionally as Witawali or Witawodli by the Kaurna people, neighbours Aldinga Bay and had 2,616 residents recorded in the 2016 Census. Bounded by Button Road to the north, Main South Road to the east and the shoreline to the west, it marks the southern limit of the metropolitan area.
Life here revolves around the beach and its nearby conveniences. A local post office, delicatessen and wholesale nursery serve residents, while the short drive to Aldinga Beach brings three petrol stations, two supermarkets, a bakery, a doctor’s surgery, two chemists and assorted shops. Main South Road provides easy road access, and the beach itself welcomes motorbike enthusiasts and, for residents, free vehicle access, adding a distinctive coastal pastime to the suburb’s relaxed lifestyle.
