Overview

Wingfield lies north of Adelaide, between the Port River Expressway and Grand Junction Road, with Dry Creek along its north‑east edge. The area is crossed by the Gawler and Adelaide‑Port Augusta railway lines, the North‑South Motorway and the Dry Creek‑Port Adelaide line, while Salisbury Highway, South Road and the Northern Connector lie nearby. A residential pocket exists in the south‑west, but most of the suburb is industrial, hosting recycling, manufacturing and freight forwarding.

The 94‑hectare Wingfield Waste & Recycling Centre serves as a modern transfer hub since 2004. Recreation centres on the Wingfield Reserve, home to Sidewinders Speedway, Australia’s only junior motorcycle speedway track opened in 1978. Wingfield is governed by the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, linking residents to services in nearby suburbs such as Gillman and Ottoway.
