Overview

Bridgenorth is a small rural community in the Western Tamar Valley of Tasmania, administered largely by the West Tamar Council with a tiny portion (about 4.5 %) in the Meander Valley Council area. Situated roughly 22 kilometres north‑west of Launceston, it had a population of 373 according to the 2016 Census. The locality’s name, assigned in 1999, honours the English town of Bridgnorth, and its boundaries were refined in 2006.

The main thoroughfare is the C732 (Bridgenorth Road), which links the settlement to the West Tamar Highway and provides convenient access to neighboring localities. Residents enjoy nearby open space at the Bridgenorth Recreation Ground, a park just over a kilometre away, while the rural setting supports a low‑density housing mix typical of countryside living.
