Overview
Hillcrest is a residential suburb of Burnie in north‑west Tasmania, lying just 2 km south‑west of the town centre. At the 2016 census it was home to 1,042 people. The community includes the historic Terrylands estate, developed from around 1949 by the Agricultural Bank, and blends with newer housing that spills into the neighbouring Montello area. Residents enjoy a small shopping complex with a café and takeaway, as well as the 2.3 ha Sampson Street Reserve for open‑space recreation.
The Bass Highway (A2) skirts the north‑east of Hillcrest, linking the suburb to the wider region, while local streets provide easy access to the area. Leisure facilities feature the Burnie Aquatic Centre with indoor and outdoor pools and a Judo Club operating out of the Burnie PCYC. Proximity to primary schools, Hellyer College and other educational sites adds further convenience for families.
